Resin bonded sand production line which has been applied to casting production can be divided into acid-cured furan resin sand and ester-cured alkaline phenolic resin sand according to the curing method of the resin.
In the above-mentioned self-hardening resin sand process, the acid-cured furan resin sand is the most widely used in China, because the raw and auxiliary materials and equipment used in it can be supplied in complete sets, the technology is mature, and the accumulated accumulation experience is also the most abundant. Most manufacturers using resin sand technology use this process. However, the acid-cured furan resin sand has poor high-temperature plasticity and contains sulfur in the curing agent, which is liable to cause casting defects such as hot cracking of the steel casting. Therefore, the acid-cured furan self-hardening resin sand has been widely used in cast iron parts, and the alkaline phenolic resin sand has many applications in the production of steel castings.
The furan resin self-hardening sand process is suitable for cast iron, cast steel and non-ferrous alloy castings. The furan resin is added in an amount of 0.9% to 1.2% by weight of the original sand, and the curing agent p-toluenesulfonic acid is added in an amount of 30% to 50% by weight based on the weight of the resin. Old sand regeneration rate is high, up to 90%.
Alkaline phenolic resin is suitable for cast steel, especially stainless steel parts, ductile iron parts and non-ferrous alloy castings. The basic phenolic resin is added in an amount of 1.5% to 2.0% by weight of the original sand, and the curing agent glycerin acetate is added in an amount of 30% to 40% by weight of the resin. Resin sand does not contain elements such as sulfur, phosphorus, and nitrogen, which can reduce casting defects. However, the amount of resin added is relatively large, and the rate of regeneration of old sand is relatively low.
