What is a horizontal sand molding machine?
A horizontal flaskless sand molding machine is used in foundries to produce sand molds for metal casting without the need for traditional flasks, which are the frames that hold the mold. This modern molding method is highly automated, improving efficiency, precision, and consistency in the production of molds.

How does horizontal flaskless molding machine work?
1.Pattern Placement: The pattern plate, which has the shape of the desired part, is placed on the machine.
2.Sand Filling: Molding sand from the hopper is filled into the mold chamber around the pattern.
3.Compaction: The machine applies pressure to compact the sand around the pattern. This can be done using various methods such as squeezing, jolting, or a combination of both to ensure the sand fills all cavities and contours of the pattern.
4.Pattern Withdrawal: The pattern is carefully withdrawn, leaving a cavity in the sand that exactly matches the shape of the desired part.
5.Core Insertion (if needed): If the casting requires internal features, sand or ceramic cores are placed into the mold cavity.

6.Mold Assembly: The two halves of the mold are clamped together horizontally. In a flaskless system, the molds are self-supporting and do not require additional frames.
7.Mold Conveyance: The completed mold is moved horizontally along a conveyor system to the pouring station.
8.Pouring: Molten metal is poured into the mold cavity through the sprue and allowed to cool and solidify.
9.Mold Opening: After cooling, the mold is separated, and the casting is removed. The sand can be reclaimed and reused in subsequent molding cycles.
